MEDEssentials
Cholesterol is a dietary supplement that addresses
drug-induced nutrient deficiencies. This formula supports cardiovascular health
by reversing nutrient deficiencies shown to occur with cholesterol lowering
medications. This safe and potent supplement does not interfere with the action
of cholesterol medication, but supports the body’s own mechanisms for
cardiovascular health. . In addition to providing the heart supportive trio of
folic acid, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin B6, each capsule provides 100 mg of
Coenzyme Q10, and essential nutrient for heart health and cellular energy
production.
Folic acid, Vitamin B6 and Vitamin B12 help prevent
build-up of homocysteine – an amino acid in the blood. Epidemiological studies
have shown that too much homocysteine in the blood (plasma) is related to a
higher risk of coronary heart disease, stroke and peripheral vascular disease.
Coenzyme Q10 is an important player in facilitating
energy production and its benefits in improving various heart conditions have
been clearly documented. The body's
ability to produce CoQ10 decreases
with age. Also, the use of cholesterol lowering statin drugs (HMG CoA
reductase inhibitors) can block the production of CoQ10, lowering blood levels
in proportion to drug potency, dosage,
and duration. Patients being treated for
elevated cholesterol, particularly older patients, using a statin drug are
ironically at risk for developing adverse effects in the cardiovascular system.
