Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is an important component in the manufacture of ATP, the energy produced in every cell in our body. The body can synthesize CoQ10  but deficiency states can exist. As we age, the production of CoQ10 can diminish and the use of certain drugs (like cholesterol lowering drugs, statins) can effect its production in the liver.
